Tops of Switzerland

I saw this package "Tops of Switzerland" at the website
http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/tops_switzerland.htm

Has anyone taken this tour? I was wondering how good this is and would
appreciate any feedback. It seems like a good deal - 4 nights in 3
start hotel, train travel, excursion to jungfrau and mt pilates - all
for $470 per person.

Switzerland is all about scenic. Not taken it but been to the places
independantly. Looks good value, probably be more expensive to do it
independantly.
The downside with tours is that they are not often flexiable if the
weather is poor on any given day, you cannot swap days around. No
point in spend time and lots of money going up high if you cannot see
anything.

If you did want to be independant consider a transport hub where you
can go different directions easily , eg Berne. - Zurich Luzern
Interlaken Brig (Zermatt), Geneva, Montreux.

A couple of us did some rail touring of Switzerland/Austria this past
March, we typically paid about 70 Euro per night per person in 3* hotels
(I think the one night in Zurich was 100 Euro). We used a Swiss
Flexipass, but did not go to Jungfrau, which AFAIR is an extra charge.

Perhaps if you are not used to rail traveling this might be a good,
reasonable introduction. However as somebody noted, you lose some
flexibility with a tour group, though for many people this is not a
problem.

In particular, the Jungfrau is often socked in with clouds, nothing to see.
Having the flexibility to wait for another day would be better. (In
Interlaken they show TV views from Jungfrau so you know what the conditions
are.) But in 4 days you don't have much flexibility anyway.

That does seem a reasonable cost. It's just I prefer non-group travel for
longer periods. And the trains/buses/boats in Switzerland are so nice and so
well-coordinated that it's supremely easy to travel there.

Per person in a double room? Sounds to be far too much.
Expect 50-100 Euro on average for a double room in a 3 star hotel in
Switzerland.

Thinking more about it, Austria was about 50 Euro per night, and
Switzerland about 70 Euro, but these were for singles. AFAIR a double
at most of the hotels I checked did not save that much over the cost of
two singles. If anyone is really curious I can go back and retrieve the
hotel names/rates.
