The only time I had a problem was when I travelled to the USA with a diplomatic
visa, otherwise immigration has always been without problems. Queues at
immigration and security are caused by airlines not being willing to pay for an
adequate number of immigration/security staff. The queues aren't unique to the
USA. We took a charter flight from Schiphol where queues extended outside the
airport building, in this case there were not enough check in staff.
