So, when the publican keeps the outer door open, requirements for the
sufficient outdoor conditions are satisfied?

My daughter remarked on the smell of stale tobacco smoke in pubs.
I noticed that on the Hull ferry the ceilings had been cleaned in the bars where
smoking is forbidden.

It's pretty hard to get rid of that tobacco smell completely, at
least enough that non-smokers can't smell it. But eventually
exposure to air seems to make it go away, but it's a long wait.
