OK Gib.
Gib is next to LA LINEA de la Concepcion. Buses from along the coast go to
this town. From the bus terminal you can walk over to Gib avoiding the low
flying aircraft (just joking). Or at the border point you can get a bus or
taxi to take you into the town.
La Linea is on the other side of the bay from ALGECIRAS. This is a place
where you can catch the ferry to Morocco or Ceuta. It is also the end of a
rail line built over 100 years ago that goes through the hills up to Ronda
and on to Granada. There are only a few trains each day but if you have the
desire, you can incorporate this train link into your plans easily. Ronda
does have plenty of tourists but they tend to stick to the bridge and
Bullring area. Plenty of other really 'spanish' parts of this town. The
rail terminal at Algeciras is not far from the frequent bus service to La
Linea. It's also quite near (about a 6 min taxi ride) to my favourite
"colonial" hotel called REINA CRISTINA. This place was built by the Brits
around 1905 and would have been where the Brits would have fed and watered
and danced the night away before - perhaps- going up to the hills to Ronda
and to stay in it's sister hotel called REINA VICTORIA. In view of its
colonial past, some tourists would not like the decor etc but I think it's
super and great value for money. In the summer, it has a swimming pool and
there are beautiful gardens. Originally you could view Gibraltar from the
terrace over the bay.. Nowadays the port has developed and there are plenty
of cranes and tall buildings getting in the way.
All the rail times are on www.renfe.es also look at this page for details
about the rail way: http://www.andalucia.com/accounts/ronda.htm

Can you expound more on Ronda Please!

I was told this is a "*serious* bullfight!" by a local musician who
lived in the area as a teen. I'll be in the Malaga area the end of May;
will any bullfights coincide?
