WALES is once again bracing itself for heavy rainfall
Floods feared as more heavy rain on way
And Wilma has not yet showed up
*****
*
WALES is once again bracing itself for heavy rainfall today.
The Met Office was last night forecasting prolonged and heavy rain across
most of the nation.
Over the weekend, from Friday at 9am to Monday at 9am, Cardiff had seen 28mm
of rainfall, with Milford Haven getting 25mm, and Hawarden, near Wrexham,
getting 24mm.
An extra 25-50mm was last night being predicted to fall in a 24-hour period
in many areas of Wales.
Environment Agency Wales last night had five flood warnings, for the Conwy
Valley and Llanrwst, the Dyfi Valley and Machynlleth, the lower Dee Valley,
the river Severn from Caerhowel to Trewern, and from Pool Quay to Crew
Green.
People in low-lying properties in these areas were being advised to take
precautions, such as moving valuables upstairs and putting sandbags in
place.
Forty-four other areas had the lower risk flood watches in place.
Driving conditions were also expected to become hazardous because of lying
water and spray.

The exception which proves the rule. The center of the world, Paris,
is cloudy.

And it should stay this way!

Oh, good. We need it to replenish the reservoirs and aquifers.
However, the Met Office has currently no warnings of severe weather, so
I'm not sure why you consider this worth reporting here. The mention of
Wilma is, as I've pointed out elsewhere, entirely irrelevant.

Somebody "up there" heard my complaint, it is sunny with a blue sky, right
now.

And drown people
Oct 26, 2005
Be prepared, flood officials warn region
People living in Shropshire and Mid Wales were today warned to be ²prepared
to act² against the threat of flooding in the region. Flood warnings were
still in place across much of the area today.
Officials at the Environment Agency said the situation was being carefully
monitored. River levels were today said to be ²falling or static² but more
rain is expected tonight.
Six flood warnings are in place in the region. They are on the River Severn
from Monkmoor to Buildwas; Shrawardine to Shelton; Caerhowel to Trewern and
Pool Quay to Crew Green; the River Vyrnwy from Llansantffraid to Shrawardine
and the Lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to Chester.
Note
"A number of flood warnings were put in place today after heavy rain and
70mph winds swept across the country."
70, mph is hurricane level, son.

They were 70mph gusts. Gusts aren't the basis for classifying storms
as hurricanes.
