Predefinito Frankfurt Airport/Train Connections

I will be flying in and out of Frankfurt Airport in a couple of weeks.
When I arrive I'll be heading to Hamburg via train, a fairly relaxed
connection. When it's time for me to leave I'll be coming in by train
from Berlin. I want to be sure i understand the airport/train
connections at Frankfurt and am finding some of the information a bit
confusing.

1. Websites and other sources say that there is a nearly seamless
connection to trains right at the Frankfurt airport BUT there is no
mention of the trains at that Airport station going to and from either
berlin or Hamburg (Stuttgart and Koln) are mentioned.

I infer therefore that one needs option 2:

2. Take the S-Bahn #8 shuttle to and from Frankfurt's main
Hauptbahnhoft.

I am especially concerned that when I'm coing in from berlin that I
know the right way and, if it's through the Hauptbahnhoft, how quickly
I can expect to make it from there to the airport.

Anyone who has done this?

The Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable (for 2005) indicates that some
of the Frankfurt - Hamburg trains do in fact stop at Frankfurt
Flughafen (Airport), although plenty of others don't.

The Berlin - Frankfurt trains don't call at the airport, so you'll
need to take the S-Bahn.

(You can check this on DB's English site:

Lonely Planet says the airport is 11 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof,
and the Routard guide says trains run every 10-15 minutes. Rounding
up for luck, half an hour should do it (although I never have).

As far as I can make out, you will have to make a change at Frankfurt
Main station no matter what. That means you will either have to take a
regional train or a long distance train from the airport to Frankfurt
Main, and then change to the Hamburg train.

I have. I had a 3 hour layover in Frankfurt and had at least 2 hours
to wander around the city with a bit of time spare when I got back to
the airport.

Well impressed I was!

You can find out the connectiones very well from
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
You can type FRA airport as destination.
There're two stations at the airport , one Regionalbahmhof for local trains
incl.S-bahn and one Fernbahnhof for the longdistance trains.
As you can see from a search there's a mix of connections but no direct
train from Berlin.
You're adviced from the timetable to allow 10minutes for the transfer to
S-bahn in Frankfurt main station but you'll probably do it in 5min no
problems.

Thanks all. Once I typed in the Frankfurt airport, rather than just
"Frankfurt" as the point of origin and/or destination many helpful bits
of information came up.

I've taken an ICE train from Stuttgart to Hamburg and return, and the
ones I was on stopped at both the Frankfurt airport and then also the
main train station (going, and the reverse returning). However, I
don't know how frequent they are.

One should try to avoid S-Bahn trains from the tunnel station.

There are RB/RE and even ICE trains connecting at the main part of the
main station.

It varies. Some trains do connect directly to the airport, but usually
you have to change at the main station. I've done both at different
times.

There is no such thing as too many books.

Too few bookshelves can, however, be a problem.
