Predefinito Frankfurt for the holidays

I have a question and hopefully someone can help. I'm planning to be in
Germany for the holidays and I may be arriving on the 24th of December.
Will the public transportation be running? And if so, for how long? I
will need to get to Heidelberg and normally take the Lufthansa shuttle.
Would it be better to stay in Frankfurt for Christmas, since I will not
have any time to do shopping before the stores close or should I take
my chances.

thanks

gerry

Generally, in Germany public transportation is running less frequent
on Dec 24th to Dec 26th; on the 24th it is comparable to a Saturday
and the 25th and 26th are public holiday, so transportation is running
like on a Sunday. As I know, the Lufthansa Shuttle operates on the
same schedule every day, so there should be no problem on these days
(to be sure, you could contact Lufthansa). Shops normally close on the
24th around noon and stay closed during the 25th and 26th.
