I guess I was lucky with the only tour I've experienced - we
definitely shared in the regular hotel breakfast, and the
choice of hotels was excellent, too, so the food was
outstanding. Of course ours was a small group - just one
bus-load, for the inter-city legs of our journey. (It was a
ten-day tour - L.A. to Prague to Vienna to Budapest and
return to L.A.)

The last few tours I've done have had superb breakfasts, apart from
one hotel at which we only spent one night on the return leg to the
UK.

Last tour I did (September) stayed at a 4* in Mülheim on the Mosel in
Germany and it provided real excellence.

The river-cruise ship I've worked on this year is also great - they
even have an on-board baker so there are fresh Semmeln every morning
and an enormous choice of items for breakfast both hot and cold.

(For my personal taste, the German black breads - Vollkornbrot and
Pumpernickel, are not only delicious, but healthy, too!)[color=blue]

It depends heavily on the tour sponsor and the price. It isn't much
more for a decent breakfast but if they are cutting every corner it is
one that is often available.

I also have had some pretty good breakfasts. My best was not for the
food but for the view of the pyramids from the dining room used for
breakfast. The food wasn't bad but the view was exceptional. It wasn't
even that expensive a tour just not at the bottom.

This was sponsored by our local NPR classical radio station
- an "Opera" tour, contracted with a private travel agent.
I don't remember, now, how much it cost, but surprisingly
little, considering all we got for our money (even
considering the single supplement I paid because I didn't
want a room-mate). Round trip air-fare from L.A., rooms in
three or four star hotels, admission to all the operas,
concerts and attractions on the itinerary, either lunch or
dinner every day (in addition to lavish breakfasts), and
$300 of what we paid was a "donation" to the non-profit
radio station who sponsored it.

They sponsored three or four such tours, over the course of
as many years, including a later one that included Italy,
but none at such bargain prices as the one I enjoyed in
1999. However, having once gotten my feet wet, so to speak,
I've arranged all my subsequent trips myself, via internet.
